SHANTARAM series is based on Gregory David Roberts novel published in 2003. It’s based on an Australian guy who escaped from prison and flee to Bombay ( now Mumbai) India with false identity (Lindsay Ford).

The series will have 12 episodes currently only 3 are available to stream.

The series is based on Lin’s life in Bombay in early 1980's as he sees he can lay low in a faraway country since he is escaping.

In Bombay he meets an Indian tourist guide named Prabhu with whom he takes shelter after getting into chaos and loosing his identities.

SHANTARAM is a Maharashtrian name he was given by Prabhu’s mother for his nature to be blessed with peaceful happiness.

Lin falls in with hookers, dealers gangsters and gamblers. While rolling with this , Lin impersonates an American diplomat to save a sex worker & in parallel to it Lin getting himself lured into his brewing relationship with Kalra ( Antonio Desplat ) though this could only add troubles with him.

Lin’s life turn into a new chapter when he has to shift to a slum called sagarwadi where he is staying with Prabhu. On his first night in sagarwadi there’s a fire, Lin saves a girl and by offering medical help to the sagarwadi people everyone becomes grateful to him for his help & he becomes an unlikely Son to them.

The 3 episodes have just put up a base to the upcoming thrills to his life in Bombay, the series might get even in a better phase as it looked in the start.
