Karim Benzema rewarded with the best player award in the world for his merciless performances and prolific consistency.

Karim Benzema has won the Ballon D’or 2022 at the age of 34.

Ballon D’or the award for the best performer of the previous year is organized by FIFA & France Football Magazine. It is the the biggest individual honor in the sport.

After a sensational year & series of high level displays in campaigns like Uefa Champions League & carrying the team in some big big matches single handedly Karim Benzema proved he is the best Centre Forward in world football & has achieved the milestone ( winning BallonD’or ) at age of 34 year and 302 days that makes him the oldest winner of it in last 66 years previously won by Stanley Matthew in 1956.

Benzema has always been prolific and very consistent ever since he joined Real Madrid from French side Olympique Lyon back in 2009 but his performances have always been overshadowed by likes of Cristiano Ronaldo & Lionel Messi both shares 13 awards in last 14 years. In 2021-22 campaign his staggering stats of scoring 44 goals and assisting 15 times in all competition and scoring 15 times in Uefa Champions League campaign were enough to end the debate of competition with him.

Former Liverpool star man Sadio Mane finished runner up, who has always been backed to win the award by none other than Record 7 times winner Lionel Messi.

Manchester city’s Kevin De Bruyne was second runner up.

Sadly Lionel Messi has not made it the list of top 25 contenders & Cristiano Ronaldo had to endure 20th place.

Karim Benzema is now the 10th player in Real Madrid history to have bought the Ballon D’or home.

Karim Benzema is the only French player to have won the award since Zinedine Zidane won it back in 1998, Zidane though has praised Benzema during the ceremony by quoting ” He is the best Striker in French history“.
